Leadership in the Church:
Is a community of those who believe in God the Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit - one God; who are repentant of sin and have been saved by personal faith in Jesus Christ through His atoning death and resurrection; who publicly confess their faith in Him through believers baptism and who are willing to be committed to the church’s aims and functions.
The Church believes in:
- The Virgin Birth, the true humanity and deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- The inspiration of the Bible and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
- The atonement made on the Cross by our Lord for the sin of the world.
- Salvation by faith in Christ alone.
- Membership of the church for the regenerate (spiritually born again).
- The person of the Holy Spirit as the one who sets apart, empowers, and imparts spiritual gifts to the church.
- The immersion of believers as the only scriptural form of baptism.
The Ordinances of the Church are:
- Believers baptism by immersion.
- Communion of the Lord’s Supper which is held at least monthly and open to all believers.
Leadership in the Church:
- The church is an autonomous body governed through its members, working closely with other Baptist churches, with the Regional Consultant, the local Baptist Association, the Baptist Churches of New Zealand, and the wider body of Christ.
- Leadership is provided by Pastoral Staff and Elders who are responsible to the membership for the oversight and direction of the church.
- Members shall be those who have publicly confessed their faith in Jesus Christ in believers’ baptism. Applications for baptism shall be made to the Pastoral Staff or one of the leadership, who are responsible to the membership for the acceptance or otherwise. A believer who desires to be baptised, but is prevented by physical disability or other special reason acceptable to the church may apply for membership on the same basis as baptised believers.
- Converts shall be instructed in baptism and membership as soon after conversion as possible.
